Kenyan Designers Bettydora and Neema Take Their Fashion to London

Two Kenyan fashion designers are getting a major international platform after being selected to showcase their work at Africa Fashion Week London 2026.

Bettydora Odhiambo and Neema Kinoti joined designers from across Africa for the London showcase, giving the two creatives an opportunity to place Kenyan fashion in front of a wider international audience.

The event brought together emerging talent from countries including Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Zimbabwe and Ghana.

For Bettydora, the London appearance is another step in building her Nairobi-based fashion label, Atieno Studio. Her work focuses on resort wear, summer pieces and hand-crocheted designs, combining relaxed fashion with detailed craftsmanship.

She also took part in a panel discussion centred on nurturing the next generation of creative talent.

Her participation follows her involvement in the British Council's Creative DNA programme, an initiative designed to help African fashion entrepreneurs strengthen their businesses, develop their skills and establish international connections.

The programme has also given Bettydora an opportunity to share what she has learned with artisans she works with in Kenya, particularly in areas such as production.

Neema brings swimwear and resort fashion to the showcase

Neema Kinoti, the founder of Ohana Family Wear, was the other Kenyan designer selected for the London programme.

She established the brand in 2018, developing collections around swimwear and resort clothing while incorporating ideas of cultural identity and representation.

Her presence at Africa Fashion Week London gives the brand an opportunity to reach audiences beyond Kenya and interact with designers, fashion professionals and potential customers in a different market.

The London programme was organised through a partnership involving Africa Fashion Week London and the British Council's Creative DNA initiative.

Rather than simply offering designers a runway, the programme is designed to expose emerging African fashion businesses to international markets, industry networks and new creative opportunities.

A bigger stage for Kenyan fashion

For Bettydora and Neema, the London showcase represents more than a trip outside Kenya.

International fashion platforms can give emerging designers access to people they might not easily meet through local events alone, from buyers and creative professionals to potential collaborators and audiences interested in African design.

Their participation also comes at a time when African designers are increasingly finding ways to take locally developed ideas and craftsmanship to global audiences.

Kenya's fashion industry has a growing pool of designers experimenting with textiles, handmade techniques, contemporary silhouettes and cultural influences.

The challenge has often been getting those designs in front of international markets.

For the two designers, London provided exactly that opportunity.

Alongside the Kenyan duo, the 2026 showcase featured creatives from several African countries, including Nigerian designer Adedayo Ilori of Dimeji Ilori, Uganda's Joan Nantege of Joan Jade, Ethiopia's Mastewal Belay of Mastewal Alemu and Rwanda's Maurice Niyigena of Matheo Studio.

For Bettydora and Neema, the London runway marks another step in taking Kenyan fashion beyond its traditional audience and showing that locally built fashion brands can compete for attention on an international stage.

Travis Kelce Says Finding Designer Clothes in 2XL Is Still a Challenge

Even with his growing influence in fashion, Travis Kelce says finding the right designer clothes in his size can still be surprisingly difficult.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 36, recently spoke to WWD about his experience shopping for high-end clothing and how that has changed as his NFL career has grown.

Kelce said his access to major fashion labels has improved over the years, largely because more designers have approached him as his profile has increased. That has given him access to a wider selection of clothing that fits him.

But size remains an issue.

Kelce wears 2XL, and he explained that one of the biggest challenges is simply getting to the larger sizes before they sell out. His growing relationships with major designers have made the process easier, but finding the right pieces is still not always straightforward.

Despite his increasing presence in luxury fashion, Kelce has not abandoned the streetwear brands he has worn throughout his career. He continues to mix high-end designer pieces with more casual styles, reflecting the fashion approach he has developed over the years.

His interest in clothing has become increasingly visible away from the football field. Kelce has become known for experimenting with different silhouettes, colours and designers, particularly during NFL game arrivals and major public appearances.

That fashion profile has now led to another major opportunity. Kelce is one of the faces of Tommy Hilfiger's Fall 2026 campaign, appearing alongside Gigi Hadid, Frances Tiafoe and Carmelo Anthony. The campaign was filmed in New York, including at The Plaza, and also features Kelce's newly introduced Samoyed.

Kelce's relationship with fashion is not entirely new. His style has attracted attention for years, including his willingness to work with emerging designers and experiment with pieces outside conventional men's fashion. Vogue previously highlighted his interest in distinctive designers and his tendency to use his game-day appearances as opportunities to showcase his wardrobe.

The difference now is the scale of his access.

As his career and celebrity profile have grown, major fashion houses have increasingly sought opportunities to work with him. That has helped solve part of the practical problem of dressing an athlete whose build does not always fit the standard sizing offered by luxury labels.

Still, Kelce's comments show that even a celebrity with access to some of the world's biggest designers can face a familiar problem: finding fashionable clothes in the right size.

For Kelce, the solution appears to be a combination of working directly with designers, getting access to larger sizes earlier and continuing to rely on the streetwear labels that have been part of his style since before the luxury fashion world became a bigger part of his career.

His latest comments also underline how his image has expanded beyond football. With fashion campaigns, designer collaborations and increasingly high-profile appearances becoming part of his public profile, Kelce is now establishing himself as a figure in the fashion world as well as on the NFL field.

The Anti-Blush Trend Is Changing How People Sculpt Their Cheeks

Blush has traditionally been one of the easiest ways to make a makeup look feel fresh and lively. But a new beauty trend is taking a different approach.

The anti-blush trend is putting bright pinks and obvious rosy tones to one side and focusing instead on softer, muted shades that add shape to the face without making the cheeks look heavily flushed.

The result is a more sculpted finish that sits somewhere between traditional blush and contour.

Rather than making the cheeks the most noticeable part of the makeup, the technique is designed to create definition while keeping everything looking subtle.

It is less about colour and more about shape

Traditional blush is usually placed on the apples or upper parts of the cheeks to give the face a healthy-looking flush.

Anti-blush takes a quieter approach.

Makeup artists are using shades closer to the natural tones found in shadows on the face, including muted beige, taupe, soft brown and dusty neutral colours.

These shades can give the cheeks some depth without producing the obvious pink or peach effect associated with conventional blush.

The technique can be particularly useful for people who prefer a polished makeup look but do not want their blush to dominate their face.

Why the look is catching attention

One reason for the popularity of the trend is the continued shift towards makeup that looks more natural.

Heavy layers of foundation, strong contour and highly visible blush have increasingly been replaced by softer techniques that allow more of the skin's natural appearance to remain visible.

Anti-blush fits comfortably into that movement.

Instead of adding a strong burst of colour, the makeup creates a gentle transition between the cheekbones and the rest of the face.

It can also work well with minimalist makeup, where a few carefully placed products are expected to do most of the work.

How makeup artists approach it

The key is choosing the right shade.

A colour that is too warm or too orange can start looking like bronzer, while something too grey can make the face appear flat or dull.

The goal is a muted shade that adds dimension without looking obviously painted onto the skin.

Placement also matters.

Rather than concentrating product directly on the centre of the cheeks, the colour can be swept along the cheekbone area and blended carefully toward the temples.

A light hand is important because the effect is supposed to be subtle.

For an even softer finish, the product can be layered gradually rather than applying a large amount at once.

You do not necessarily have to give up blush

The anti-blush trend does not mean traditional blush is disappearing.

It is more about changing the way colour is used.

Someone who normally wears a bright pink blush could switch to a muted rose or beige-brown shade. Another option is to use a small amount of conventional blush over a neutral base, creating definition first and colour second.

This makes the technique relatively easy to adapt to different makeup styles.

It can also be adjusted depending on skin tone. The most flattering shade will not be identical for everyone, so choosing a colour that works naturally with the complexion is more important than copying a particular product or shade seen online.

The finish is deliberately understated

What makes anti-blush interesting is that the technique does not immediately announce itself.

Instead of looking as though a strong blush colour has been applied, the cheeks simply appear more defined.

That makes it suitable for everyday makeup as well as more polished looks.

The technique can also complement other current beauty trends, particularly soft-focus skin, understated contouring and neutral makeup.

For people who have always struggled with finding a blush shade that looks natural, the trend offers another option.

Sometimes, less colour can actually create more definition.

And that appears to be the idea behind anti-blush: sculpt the cheeks, soften the colour and let the overall makeup look come together without making the blush the star of the face.

Malia Obama Is Quietly Becoming a Gen Z Style Icon

Malia Obama has stepped confidently into a fashion identity all her own—far from the structured, formal White House wardrobe of her teen years. Now in her mid-20s and building a creative career in Los Angeles, Malia has developed a style that speaks volumes: a slouchy, bohemian aesthetic infused with Gen Z’s favorite trends.

Gone are the crisp dresses and coats of her Washington days. Today, Malia is more likely to be spotted in oversized shirts, denim cutoffs, leather jackets, and chunky boots. Her style embraces casual streetwear with intentional pattern clashes and gender-fluid silhouettes. Think calf-high boots paired with a suede bag and sunglasses one day, and a bold cardigan over distressed jeans the next.

One of her standout looks features floral midi skirts juxtaposed with biker jackets—a perfect balance between feminine and edgy. She’s also been seen experimenting with oversized menswear pieces, like pleated trousers and blazers with exaggerated shoulder pads.

Malia’s layering skills shine in colder months. Zebra-print pants with a plaid scarf? Unexpected, yet effortlessly cool. Her choice of accessories—from plaid totes and leather mules to white over-ear headphones—gives her wardrobe personality and flair.

But Malia’s evolution isn’t limited to fashion. Professionally known as Malia Ann, she’s writing and directing films, with her short film "The Heart" debuting at Sundance and Deauville in early 2025. She’s collaborated with Donald Glover and is steadily building a reputation in Hollywood that’s separate from her famous last name.

Her hair evolution also mirrors her fashion sense: recently dyed a rusty red, styled in braids or loose waves, signaling a willingness to take risks and embrace reinvention.

Malia’s appeal lies in her authenticity. Gen Z gravitates toward self-expression, comfort, and a touch of nostalgia—and Malia delivers. Her ability to mix thrift-like finds with luxury pieces, and her relaxed confidence, make her a modern muse.

In a sea of curated celebrity fashion, Malia Obama stands out—not because she’s trying to, but because she isn’t. And that’s exactly what makes her a Gen Z style icon.
