Leeds strike before Newcastle can respond
Leeds opened the scoring in the 32nd minute when a deflected effort resulted in an own goal from Newcastle midfielder Lewis Miley.
The hosts quickly turned their advantage into a commanding lead. Jayden Bogle scored the second after a move involving Dominic Calvert-Lewin, before Calvert-Lewin added another in stoppage time at the end of the first half.
The three goals in a short period left Newcastle facing a steep challenge after the break.
Okafor adds a fourth
Leeds continued to control the match in the second half and extended their advantage through Noah Okafor.
His goal made it 4-0 and capped an impressive attacking performance from the home side.
Newcastle eventually found a consolation goal in the 90th minute through substitute Bazoumana Toure, but it did little to change the outcome.
The final whistle confirmed a comprehensive Leeds victory.
Leeds climb to third

A statement performance
